Denver, CO – Mark Ferrandino, co-chair of Colorado Stonewall Democrats, was elected treasurer of the Colorado Democratic Party, on May 14. The vacant seat on the state party’s executive board came open due to the resignation of past treasurer, Shawn O’Buckley.
In addition to his position as co-chair of Colorado Stonewall Democrats, a state-wide LGBT group, Ferrandino serves as the alternative committeeman for the Colorado Young Democrats.
“It speaks highly of the Colorado Democratic Party that, when a vacancy occurred, they sought out a qualified member of the LGBT community to serve as one of their officers,“ Jeff Shaw, fellow co-chair of Colorado Stonewall Democrats, said of Ferrandino’s position as treasurer. Shaw further noted, “Mark, as Colorado Democratic Party treasurer, will be well-positioned to continue voicing the concerns of our community at the highest level in our state.”
Upon being elected, Ferrandino stated, “Our party is making itself heard across the nation as the great State of Colorado bucks the tide of red state/blue state. We, as a party, best represent the needs of all of the people of this state. I look forward to being an integral part of the Democratic Party's furthering the cause equality for all people both here in Colorado and in the nation as a whole.”
