Georgette Gomez, a progressive Democrat running for Congress in California’s 53rd congressional district, has won the endorsement of the Stonewall Democratic Club, the nation’s oldest LGBTQ, progressive, and feminist political advocacy organization.
“We are thrilled to endorse Georgette Gomez and stand united in her mission to stand up to Trump’s dangerous agenda,” said Stonewall Political Vice President Jane Wishon. “Stonewall shares Georgette’s vision of combating climate change, defending immigrant’s rights, expanding affordable housing, and reducing homelessness.”
If elected, Gomez will become the first queer Latina in U.S. congressional history.
“We need diverse, queer voices in Congress,” said Stonewall Public and Media Relations Director Alex Mohajer. “Georgette will represent our community well, ensure our voices are heard and advocate for her constituents with distinction.”
