Celebrate Black Girl Joy Day – August 10
The state of California has officially recognized August 10 as Black Girl Joy Day—a powerful step toward honoring the brilliance, resilience, and light that Black girls bring to our families, schools, and communities.
But here’s the truth: joy is not a luxury. For Black girls, joy is truth, light, and the freedom to be fully seen.
This month, we’re celebrating with a digital photo and video contest: #MyJoyIs. We’re inviting YOU to share joyful moments from your own childhood—or highlight the joy of a young Black girl in your life.
Let’s fill the timeline—and our hearts—with what real joy looks like. |
