The Stonewall Democratic Club will be hosting a Mayoral Forum and Special Endorsement Meeting for five candidates running for Mayor of Los Angeles. RSVP for the Zoom meeting here. The Mayoral Forum will be co-hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists - Los Angeles Chapter (NABJLA), and The Minority AIDS Project, the first community-based HIV/AIDS organization established and managed by people of color in the United States.

Stonewall Democratic Club members will vote to endorse a candidate at the conclusion of the forum. The event will be held in a hybrid online and in-person format in a Zoom meeting as well as simulcast from the Stonewall YouTube Channel and Facebook Page. Stonewall members are encouraged to attend via Zoom in order to facilitate their participation in credentialed voting.

The forum will take place at the Minority AIDS Project, located at 5149 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016.

The five Democratic candidates for Mayor who have confirmed their participation in the forum are:

  • US Representative Karen Bass (D-CA)
  • Los Angeles City Councilmember Joe Buscaino
  • Los Angeles City Councilmember Kevin de Leon
  • Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer
  • Jessica Lall, CEO Central City Association

Moderating the forum will be freelance journalist Jarrett Hill and Emmy® Award-winning journalist Tanya McRae. Hill and McRae are President and Vice President of Broadcast for NABJLA, respectively.

This event marks the first time the candidates for Mayor will be together answering questions ahead of the June 2022 mayoral primary. They will discuss their plans for the City of Los Angeles and its nearly 4 million residents as the second-largest city in the United States.

In-person attendance will be limited to candidate staff, selected guests, and the press. Prior to entering the facility, all attendees, volunteers, staff, and candidates must provide proof of immunization against COVID-19 and must wear masks while inside the facility at all times unless appearing on stage.
