Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish poet, playwright, and author. He became a celebrated London dramatist in the early 1890s after experimenting with various literary styles in the 1880s. Wilde is known for his witty, satirical comedies with dark undertones, including The Importance of Being Earnest, Salomé, Lady Windermere's Fan, and An Ideal Husband.
